TOMMY
Diagnosis: Category C (Stage IV) Burkitt’s Lymphoma
Day in the Life: Tommy enjoys family game nights, binge watching shows, snuggling with his dogs, and really likes the challenge of sudoku or any brain-teaser puzzles.
His Story
In August 2019, at 11-years-old, Tommy was diagnosed with Category C (Stage IV) Burkitt’s Lymphoma. Burkitt’s is a rare, highly aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Tommy’s tumor started in his nasal cavity and rapidly grew to his throat, affecting his breathing and speech. The day after he was diagnosed he received his port and began the first of six extremely intense rounds of chemotherapy. From August to January, Tommy received close to 10 lumbar punctures, over 20 transfusions, IV nutrition, fevers reaching 105.6, time in the ICU, suffered from his kidneys beginning to fail, and spent over 2 weeks on heated high flow oxygen due a severe lung infection. His strength and positivity has helped him continue to be the amazing warrior he is!
Tommy is a quick-witted, fun, smart kid. His mom is a Frisco ISD teacher, and his dad is a local business owner who enjoys staying involved with the City of Frisco. In addition to hanging out with his friends, Tommy enjoys family game nights, binge watching shows, snuggling with his dogs, and really likes the challenge of sudoku or any brain-teaser puzzles. Tommy lives life to the fullest and brings a smile to the face of anyone he meets.
